Certain members who are on long-term generic maintenance medications will soon receive a mailing from our prescription benefits provider Optum Rx, regarding a mandatory mail order program for these types of medications. Beginning January 1, 2023, affected members will no longer be able to fill their long-term generic medications at a retail location. Members will be instructed through the mailing on how to sign up for the mail order program prior to January 1, 2023. Once signed up members will receive a 90-day supply of their maintenance medication through the mail. This program eliminates members from having to refill their prescriptions every 30 days at a retail location, and more importantly eliminates any existing co-payments associated with their existing refills.
